FARGO - St. Paul-based Kemps, LLC, is buying Fargo-based Cass-Clay Creamery, according to a statement from Associated Milk Producers Inc.
"We are excited about building on the heritage of the Cass-Clay brand," said Jim Green, president and CEO of Kemps. "We look forward to providing fresh Cass-Clay milk from local farms for years to come."
Associated Milk Producers Inc. is a dairy marketing cooperative with 3,000 member farms. Members operate dairy farms located throughout the Midwest states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. They own 12 manufacturing plants and market a full line of consumer-packaged dairy products, including the Cass-Clay brand.
Cass-Clay began in 1935 in downtown Moorhead, moving to Fargo in 1957 where it remains in its main building just north of the railroad tracks between downtown and Interstate 29, at 21st Street North and Third Avenue, according to the company's website.
Its Grand Forks branch building is at 1601 Gateway Drive.

Cass-Clay has about 300 employees, according to its website.
