Study: MN and ND opposites when it comes to being 'green'

Minnesota is the fifth greenest state and North Dakota is the fifth least green state, according to a recent study.

Personal finance website WalletHub ranked Minnesota second in environmental quality, which takes air, water and soil quality into account.

Minnesota the highest water quality and soil quality, according to the study. The state also has the second highest percentage of recycled municipal solid waste in the country.

The study found that North Dakota has some of the highest energy consumption and gasoline consumption per capita.

North Dakota ranked 48th in climate change contributions. However, the state has the highest air quality in the country.

WalletHub compared all 50 states across environmental quality, eco-friendly behaviors and climate change contributions.
