Flights in and out of the Grand Forks airport are canceled until at least Wednesday as low temperatures are making deicing fluids ineffective.
Executive Director Ryan Riesinger said Delta has a flight scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday but whether it will fly depends on the temperature at that time.
“As it stands right now, is that it will be tomorrow,” he said Tuesday afternoon.
Riesinger said the cold reduces the time the fluid used to deice planes is effective. As the temperature plummeted, Tuesday, planes did not have enough time diece and depart.
“It’s a little unusual” that the cancellations are due to cold rather than other weather factors, he said.
