Hillsboro Medical Center awarded
Hillsboro Medical Center in Hillsboro, N.D., will receive the North Dakota Best Practices Award during the Fall Professional Development & Best Practices Conference luncheon at noon Sept. 17 in the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck.
Hillsboro Medical Center will be honored for its resident/family focused program "Culture Change, Maximizing Choices," which helps to keep choices available to residents instead of the staff making choices for them.

River valley project awarded
The Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway's Interpretation Project, "Telling the Story of the Sheyenne River Valley," received the 2009 Scenic Byway Award for Interpretation at a ceremony held Aug. 24, during the National Scenic Byways 2009 Conference in Denver.
Sponsored by the America's Byways Resource Center, Federal Highway Administration and the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials, the award recognizes eight projects of excellence from byway nominations across the country.
The Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway's 40 individualized interpretive panels and 10 attraction kiosks promote historic preservation and tell the byway's story of the relationship between people and the land. In 2003, the byway received the Best Practices Award for leveraging resources.
