Red Cross receives check

The local chapter of the American Red Cross recently received $24,865 raised through a combined effort of Pepsi, Hugo's Family Marketplace, Clear Channel Radio and Hugo's customers.

Throughout the month of April, Hugo's customers could add a dollar to their total grocery bill at the checkout. The Columbia Road location raised the most dollars, Hugo's donated 50 cents with qualifying Pepsi purchases and the local Pepsi bottler arranged for a Pepsi grant.

WCCO Belting wins export award

WCCO Belting, Wahpeton, N.D., was one of 22 companies or organizations nationwide to be awarded a 2010 "E" Award. The honor was established by President John Kennedy in 1961 to recognize firms or organizations that contribute significantly to increasing U.S. exports.

WCCO Belting is a leading manufacturer and supplier of rubber belting products used in the agriculture and construction industries. WCCO has expanded its Wahpeton manufacturing plant twice in the past five years and added about 125 jobs since 2008. WCCO's export business has grown from 38 percent of the company's total revenue in 2001 to about 60 percent last year.

In 2003, WCCO Belting was named the North Dakota Exporter of the Year.

Choice Financials junior board gives

Choice Financial's Junior Bank Board members donated $750 to community organizations including the Community Violence Intervention Center of Grand Forks and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event.

Butler Machinery partners with Balzer Inc.

Butler Machinery announced a partnership with Balzer Inc., of Mountain Lake, Minn. Balzer is a manufacturer and distributor of livestock manure and municipal waste handling equipment products.

In a news release, Butler said it will offer Balzer large capacity grain carts throughout North and South Dakota in three sizes, including the 2,000-bushel capacity, considered an industry first and the largest capacity grain cart capable of loading two semi trailers.

Butler Machinery Company is a third-generation family-owned Caterpillar Dealer for North Dakota, South Dakota and Clay County, Minn. Butler has been serving the agriculture and construction industries for 55 years.

Government honors Digi-Key

Digi-Key Corp., Thief River Falls, was recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor for providing employment to veterans and active members of the U.S. military service.

According to a release from its human relations department, Digi-Key employs many veterans as well as a dozen individuals who are active members of the military, two of whom are on military leave that involves overseas service. Digi-Key also provides active military members with holiday pay for company holidays missed during military leave.
