A potential fire hazard is prompting a voluntary recall of 1,300 Arctic Cat snowmobiles.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, fuel can leak from the fuel pump at the fuel tank mounting screws, posing a fire hazard. Registered owners should have received a letter about the recall.

Arctic Cat reports on its Web site that the company has received two reports of fuel leakage on the snowmobiles. No injuries have been reported. The recalled machines were produced at the company's plant in Thief River Falls.

Model year 2010 Arctic Cat 500 Sno Pro models are affected by this recall. The snowmobiles were sold nationwide from October 2008 to February of this year.

Consumers are urged to stop using the snowmobiles and contact a local dealer to schedule a free repair.

Loren Lendobeja, a salesman at RV Sports in Thief River Falls, said a customer had inquired about the recall. "A lot of those are out there being raced," Lendobeja said. "There are six screws and a gasket that have to be replaced, and we have kits on order."
