It’s game over for a retro arcade and soda shop in downtown Grand Forks.

The Blind Beagle Juice Bar and Music Center at 406 DeMers Ave. has closed. The business that had a vision for being a gaming and music venue opened in March, but “unexpected and unfortunate circumstances” forced owner Dan Spah to shutter the doors, according to a post on the business’s Facebook page.

“This was not an easy decision to make, but operating the space is just no longer doable,” he wrote in the post.

The store was named after his 17-year-old beagle, Bogie, Spah previously told the Herald. He had hoped to catch the young demographic of high school students, as well as young adults. He also raised more than $5,000 through a GoFundMe campaign aimed at running the startup.
