A personal shopping business serving people in cities across the country has launched in Grand Forks.

On April 22, Shipt announced it began taking same-day delivery orders. The service uses personal shoppers to deliver groceries, health and wellness products, household essentials, office supplies and home decor to clients who place orders through a smartphone application.

“Expanding Shipt’s offerings to the Grand Forks area means residents have access to easy delivery from their favorite stores, letting Shipt take care of shopping the aisles so they can focus on more important things,” said Bridget Fruit, chief operations officer at Shipt.

Customers can sign up for the service by visiting shipt.com, or downloading the application. Once that is completed people can select items from stores including, CVS, GNC, Office Depot, OfficeMax and Target. The service requires an annual fee of $99, though the company is offering a temporary discount.

The company is also hiring personal shoppers, called “Shipt Shoppers.” Job applications can be found on the company's website. Those shoppers can communicate with customers in real-time about preferences and substitutions.

Shipt is an independently operated, wholly owned subsidiary of Target Corp., delivering to households in more than 5,000 U.S. cities.
