The Grand Forks chapter of Senior Core of Retired Executives has been designated the Chapter of the Year for North Dakota.
The national office of SCORE, dubbed “Mentors to America’s Small Business,” honored SCORE Grand Forks with an award for Chapter of the Year for exhibiting outstanding performance in fiscal year 2020. The award recognizes service excellence in support of local small businesses. A second “Platinum level” award, SCORE’s highest honor that recognizes high performance, also was given to the Grand Forks Chapter.
“We are honored to receive recognition from the national office of SCORE,” said Grand Forks Chapter Co-Chair, Curt Sandberg. “Our 30 volunteers have a passion for business. They are committed to the success of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and surrounding area small businesses.”
SCORE Grand Forks has been part of the local small business community for 46 years. In 2020, the chapter’s volunteers provided free video, telephone, email and in-person mentoring for 142 aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners. They also collaborated in presenting 25 free workshops attended by 665 individuals.
The organization works cooperatively with its partners, including the U.S. Small Business Administration, Small Business Development Center, Veterans Business Outreach Center and the Women’s Business center, to offer many workshops throughout the year.
