The J.C. Penney's building in Thief River Falls will get new life when another clothing store opens there.
Ronning's will open a fourth store at 225 Main Ave. in the summer or fall of 2019.
Ronnings is a family-owned clothing, footwear and gift store, owned by Lyle Larson and his son, Garrett.
"We saw a need in the town, and it was kind of just perfect timing with the building being empty," Garrett said.
Lyle said he had been asked to come south for years now.
"It feels good when people want you to move to where they are," Lyle said.
The former J.C. Penney's building will get a facelift, including a new front, new windows and an interior makeover, Lyle said.
As for what will be stocked in the store, the Larsons said that it varies slightly in each location.
"We want to see what the town needs; my thinking is that if the J.C. Penney's went out of business, maybe people will want something more like that," Garrett said.
Other Ronning's locations are in International Falls, Baudette and Roseau in Minnesota.
