A water main break has closed two local restaurants for the evening in Grand Forks.
Public Works manager Dan Hanson said the break has been ongoing for most of the day, but water was shut off about 1 p.m.
He said the break isn't large, but has affected Denny's and Pizza Ranch, near the intersection of 32nd Avenue South and South 42nd Street. Both businesses closed Wednesday afternoon.
"The leak itself didn't cause much mess because it went right into the storm sewer," Hanson said. Crews also arrived to sand the area.
Public works crews are working to figure out what caused the leak and fix it, but Hanson said the fix may take several hours still and stretch into Wednesday evening. He said crews would work to fix the issue by Wednesday night, though.
Hanson said this is a relatively normal occurrence, but water breaks tend to happen more often in the winter.
