FARGO -- Fargo has the 10th-best job market while Grand Forks is tied for 19th best in the U.S., according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The rankings are based off of monthly rates of unemployment through many metro areas throughout the nation. In the latest rates for September, Fargo had a 2.1 percent unemployment rate while Grand Forks had a 2.2 percent unemployment rate. Bismarck was also tied at 27th in the U.S. with a 2.3 percent unemployment rate.
The state of North Dakota is tied for third best in its unemployment rate at 2.7 percent which is 0.2 percent above its historical low in 2017.
Minnesota is tied for sixth-best in its unemployment rate at 2.8 percent, which is a significant improvement from its 3.7 unemployment rate in 2017.
The national unemployment rate in the September statistics is 3.6 percent. Ames, Iowa, leads cities with a 1.4 percent rate while El Centro, Calif., has the worst at 19.3 percent.
