Grand Forks’ newest dog daycare and groomer will have a ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 11.
Petopia has been open since August, but wanted to finish things up with the city before having an official ceremony.
Katie Olson and her fiance, Travis Horney, own Petopia.
“We’re ready to show off the building and let everyone know we’re here,” Horney said.
When the dog daycare first was proposed, there was a lot of protest from the neighbors. But Olson said there haven’t been any complaints about barking dogs yet.
“There have been zero complaints so far,” Olson said. “It’s nice to show them we’re not a nuisance.”
So far, business has been pretty good, Olson said, but she and Horney hope the ribbon cutting ceremony will bring more dogs through the doors.
Over Labor Day, about 20 dogs were boarded at Petopia, Olson said. And they see about four dogs daily for grooming services.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be from noon to 2 p.m. There will be a lunch, with all proceeds going to Circle of Friends Humane Society, and presentations from City Council President Dana Sande and the development team, and a tour of the new facility.
