A business magazine in Grand Forks has released a list of high-achieving people in the business sector who are younger than 40.

Prairie Business, a Grand Forks-based monthly publication owned by Forum Communications Co., announced Thursday who made its 40 Under 40 list for 2017. The 17-page report highlights 40 individuals who have impressive portfolios.

"We received more than 100 nominations for the award, and with so many exceptional nominees, narrowing the list down to 40 was difficult," the magazine wrote in its December issue. "But we did our best, and we emerged more confident than ever in the quality of the up-and-coming leaders of the Dakotas and western Minnesota."

The list includes government officials, entrepreneurs, business owners and patent holders, all of whom are younger than 40 and live in North Dakota, South Dakota and western Minnesota. The youngest recipient of the award is Cassie Thompson, a 22-year-old executive officer for the Forx Builders Association in Grand Forks and co-owner of Ganesha Yoga in East Grand Forks.

"These high achievers bring dynamism to our communities, and their creativity helps our region prosper and grow," Prairie Business Editor Tom Dennis said in a statement.

Readers can view the full list at under the "Magazine" tab or in this month's issue.
