Two regional airlines have submitted bids to provide passenger service to the Thief River Falls Regional Airport.
They are Bemidji Airlines, Bemidji and Great Lakes Aviation, Cheyenne, Wyo.
The airport's lone commercial carrier, Delta Air Lines, announced this summer it plans to discontinue passenger service to Thief River Falls.
The two airlines submitted proposals recently to provide subsidized service to Thief River Falls through the federal Essential Air Service program.
While the federal Department of Transportation makes the final decision, the Thief River Falls Regional Airport Authority will make a recommendation on which airline best suits the community's needs.

Originally scheduled to discontinue service Oct. 13, the federal DOT is requiring Delta Connection to continue to serve Thief River Falls until a new carrier is selected.
