BISMARCK – Consider it forgotten. Grand Forks Red River came to Bismarck with the weight of a winless 2017 football season on its shoulders. That’s ancient history after the Roughriders’ season-opening 16-13 win over Bismarck Legacy. Junior quarterback Parker Monette ran for one touchdown and threw for another as the Riders piled up 303 yards of total offense and came up with a big defensive stand late in the game.
BISMARCK—Consistency paid off in a big way for Kindred pole vaulter Dylan Brandt on Friday at the North Dakota Class B state track and field meet. The Kindred junior cleared 13-feet, 6-inches on his first attempt at that height to win his first state title. Watford City's Braedon Gumke also made 13-6 but settled for second based on more misses at earlier heights. Brandt said the windy conditions weren't great for vaulting but "it worked out in the end, kind of a tail wind that pushed us over the bar."
