MOORHEAD, Minn. - A Moorhead woman was sentenced to almost four years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing almost $500,000 from the dental office where she worked as manager. Teresa Rae Larson, 45, was sentenced Tuesday in Clay County District Court to three years and nine months after pleading guilty to four counts of diversion of corporate property, a felony.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Three men were charged in federal court on Tuesday with setting an illegal campfire that ignited a blaze which has since grown to nearly 2,000 acres in the foothills near Los Angeles, but is largely under control. Steven Robert Aguirre, 21, Jonathan Carl Jarrell, 24, and Clifford Eugene Henry Jr, 22, were arrested on Thursday shortly after the fire broke out in the Angeles National Forest north of the Los Angeles suburb of Glendora. They were escaping the flames when they were taken into custody by Glendora police.
HUDSON, Wis. -- A former Pierce County assistant district attorney was sentenced Friday to 20 days in jail after pleading guilty to his second charge of operating while intoxicated. Thomas Greg Amann, 56, also was ordered by St. Croix County Judge Eric Lundell to pay a $1,235 fine and had his license revoked for 14 months. Last February, St. Croix County sheriff's deputies were called to a crash on County Highway A. A car had driven into a ditch and crashed into trees. Officers followed footprints in the snow into the woods, a report said. Amann eventually was apprehended without incident.
HAYWARD, Wis. -- A woman was in critical condition after being shot in the head, and the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office said her boyfriend apparently was the shooter. The incident was reported to 911 shortly before 2 a.m.
WOODBURY, Minn. -- A suspected case of road rage led to a motorist running over a pedestrian at a busy Woodbury intersection, Washington County prosecutors say. Christopher Phillip Gisch, 29, of Eagan, was charged with one count of third-degree assault and two counts of criminal vehicular operation - one of which is augmented by the use of alcohol during the crime. All three charges are felonies. According to a criminal complaint, police responded Jan. 5 to a report of three males fighting on the side of a road.
KATHRYN, N.D. - Court documents filed against a Kathryn woman accused of starving eight horses to death say neighbors warned law enforcement four months before that there was no food for the animals on the woman's property. Ginger Helland, 29, was charged Jan. 9 in Barnes County District Court with animal neglect and mistreating animals, both Class A misdemeanors, and with unlawful disposition of dead animals, an infraction. Helland and her husband, Karl, were also charged in Barnes County Court on two separate occasions - Sept. 17 and Nov.
HUDSON, Wis. -- Two men were charged Tuesday in a shooting that injured three people Sunday in front of a Hudson liquor store. The suspects are Guled Bile Abdi, 22, and Ahmed Farah Hirsi, 26, both of Minneapolis. They were charged by the St. Croix County District Attorney' Office with six counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, three counts of first-degree reckless injury and and six counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
