HANKINSON, N.D. -- A Minnesota man was arrested Wednesday, June 15, for allegedly delivering methamphetamine here at the Dakota Magic Casino. A four-month investigation involving the Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and other law enforcement agencies culminated in the arrest of Jessie James Gruettner, a 32-year-old man from Browns Valley, Minn., according to a news release from the Traverse County Sheriff.
MOORHEAD—A Canadian man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 94 east of here Tuesday, June 21. Santino Antolovich, a 58-year-old from Simcoe, Ontario, ran off the road at about 3 p.m. while riding his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle west on I-94 about 13 miles southeast of Moorhead, according to a release from the Minnesota State Patrol. Antolovich was taken to Sanford Medical Center with serious injuries, troopers said in the release.
BISMARCK, N.D. -- A sergeant at the Williams County Correctional Center in Williston has been sentenced to 14 years in prison in federal court for having 190,000 still images and 1,600 videos containing child pornography on his electronic media. Steven Brooks, 50, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Dan Hovland to also serve 20 years of supervised release after his prison term.
STILLWATER - A two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in May Township, north of Stillwater, killed one of the drivers. The vehicles collided shortly before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Manning Trail and 170th Street North, according to the Washington County sheriff’s office. One driver died at the scene, while the other was evaluated and released. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
KATHRYN, N.D. -- A Kathryn couple has been charged with animal neglect after deputies seized 64 dogs from their property. Ginger and Karl Helland are accused of keeping the animals in filthy, dangerous conditions. The Barnes County Sheriff's Office confiscated the dogs from their property, June 15, according to a post on the Prairie Paws Rescue website. Prairie Paws Rescue, based in Jamestown , is caring for the dogs.
