UND moved up to No. 2 in this week's USCHO national poll after earning a win and a tie at Wisconsin.

The Fighting Hawks beat the Badgers 3-2 on Friday night and tied 2-2 in the series finale at the Kohl Center.

This week's USCHO poll was released this morning.

UND’s spot: UND (6-2-2) jumped up two spots to No. 2 after earning a win and a tie against Wisconsin in the Kohl Center. The Badgers remained at No. 7.

UND’s next opponent: Miami (4-4) is unranked in this week's poll, but is receiving three votes. The Fighting Hawks and RedHawks play at 7:37 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday in Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The top spot: St. Cloud State (7-0) reached the No. 1 spot in the rankings for the first time since spending a single week atop the poll on Dec. 9, 2013. The Huskies swept Minnesota Duluth over the weekend. Denver, meanwhile, dropped out of the top spot for the first time since Feb. 13 of last season, when Minnesota Duluth held the top spot. Denver dropped to No. 3.

NCHC dominance: The NCHC has dominated the top spot in the USCHO, holding down the No. 1 ranking in 30 of the last 32 weeks. Half of the league has been to the top -- North Dakota, Denver, Minnesota Duluth and now St. Cloud State -- in that span, while only two other teams held the top ranking for a single week -- Boston University and Penn State.

Biggest jump: Three teams jumped four spots in the poll -- Notre Dame (6-3-1) went from No. 10 to No. 6; New Hampshire (6-1-1) moved from No. 13 to No. 9; Cornell (4-0) moved from No. 18 to No. 14.

Biggest fall: Quinnipiac (3-3-1) dropped five spots from No. 11 to No. 16 after losing to Cornell and Colgate at home.

Did you notice: Grand Forks native Grant Potulny's Northern Michigan Wildcats cracked the top 20 for the first time this season. The Wildcats are at No. 20.

One that makes you wonder: Voters are still wary of Western Michigan, despite its sweep of previous No. 1 Denver. The 5-3-1 Broncos checked in at No. 17 in this week's poll.
