Senior High 12,

Walker-H-A 2

Austin Clifton scored four goals and added an assist to lead East Grand Forks Senior High to a rout over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley on Thursday

Grant Loven added three goals and Zach Straw and Edmond Jones added two each for the Green Wave, who improved to 2-1. Nick Hovde also scored for Senior High, which received three assists from Jake Olson and two from Damian Brooks.

“We know that Walker isn’t the strongest team, but I wanted our boys to go in and put in a good showing right away,” Senior High coach Matt Stengl said. “Grant and Austin have been a dynamic 1-2 combination right now. We’re working toward next week, when we have two big sectional games.”

GF Red River 3,

Fargo North 0

Grand Forks Red River improved to 5-0 on Thursday after defeating Fargo North at Cushman Field.

The Roughriders received goals from Braden Axtman, Mohamed Mohamed and Matt Leake.

“The guys and myself were pretty excited about keeping the streak going that we have,” said Red River coach Luke Glasoe. “We showed up and played a pretty good game all around. A couple of guys had some really nice goals.”

The Roughriders, now 3-0 in the East Region, will travel to play Fargo Davies on Tuesday.

GF Central 2,

Fargo Davies 1

FARGO — Hartrick Tarr scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute as Grand Forks Central edged Fargo Davies 2-1 pm Thursday.

“It was a competitive EDC matchup,” said Central coach George DuBois, whose team improved to 3-2. “That early second-half goal made it a lot easier to take momentum and carry it through the second half. Our guys showed great composure and played well down the stretch.”

A.J. Kobetsky scored the early second-half goal for the Knights. Sam Gess scored the lone goal for Fargo Davies.

  •  Cross country: Roseau’s Ellie Nelson and Weston Nelson both won at the Thief River Falls cross country meet. Erica Eades was East Grand Forks Senior High’s top finisher, placing third in 18:14. Spencer Aune led the Green Wave boys with a fifth-place finish.
  •  Girls tennis: East Grand Forks Senior High defeated Perham 6-1 and loss to Pequot Lakes 7-0 at the Perham Triangular Thursday. “The girls did a good job keeping the ball in play against Perham,” said Senior High coach Kyle Hanson. “The Pequot Lakes score is very misleading. Many of the matches had long points and a lot of deuce points.”
  •  Boys tennis: Grand Forks Red River dropped just four games in downing Wahpeton 9-0 on Thursday. The Roughriders, who improved to 2-0, received singles wins from Greg Wischer, Jake Kuhlman, Andrew Godon, Mitchell Kuhlman, Danny Pierce and Aaron Ramage.
