N.D. spring turkey apps due Wednesday

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department reminds prospective spring turkey hunters that Wednesday, Feb. 14 is the deadline for submitting an application for the upcoming spring season.

North Dakota's spring turkey season opens April 14 and continues through May 20.

Applicants can apply online at the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website, gf.nd.gov. Applications also can be submitted by calling (800) 406-6409. Paper applications no longer are available for spring turkey or any other lottery licenses, including moose, elk, sheep, deer gun, pronghorn and swan.

First-time spring turkey hunters ages 15 or younger are eligible to receive one spring license valid for the regular hunting season in a specific unit. To be eligible, youth hunters must be 15 or younger on opening day of spring turkey season never previously received a spring turkey license in North Dakota.

Licenses are available only to North Dakota residents.

• Anyone interested in taking the exam to select candidates for the position of a full-time temporary district game warden in North Dakota must register no later than Feb. 19. The test is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Game and Fish Department's main office in Bismarck. Applicants must register by submitting an online application through the North Dakota State Job Openings website. More info: gf.nd.gov.

• Openings remain for the DNR's Becoming an Outdoors Woman guided sturgeon fishing trip set for Aug. 10-12 on Lake of the Woods and Rainy River near Baudette, Minn. One of the most popular events on the BOW calendar, the sturgeon fishing trip is limited to 12 participants. Cost is $225 per person, which included two nights lodging, guides, boats, rods and bait.
