Chaz Dobias walleye
Chaz Dobias of Bemidji caught this 30¼-inch walleye on Union Lake near Erskine, Minn., and estimates the fish weighed 11 to 12 pounds. Dobias caught the fish on a live bait rig tipped with a creek chub in 35 feet of water and says the walleye was one of his biggest to date. Fishing Union in the fall had produced a few big walleyes in the past but nothing like this one, he said. Dobias owns First City Guide Service offering open water fishing trips in the Bemidji-Cass Lake area and ice house rentals on Upper Red Lake using deluxe Ice Castle houses, including some equipped with satellite TV.
