Red River, Langdon land players on all-state teams
Grand Forks Red River landed two players on the North Dakota Class A all-state high school volleyball team, while three area players are on the B all-state team.
Selected from Red River are Lexi Robson and Maggie Steffen. Area B picks are Madi Hart of Langdon-Edmore-Munich, Macey Kvilvang of North Star and Jana Mehus of Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page.
Selections are made by the state coaches.
Here's a look at the area all-state picks.
Lexi Robson: In her first season as starting setter, Robson led the Roughriders to the East Region regular-season title and eighth place at the A state tournament. Robson had 1,021 assists, 302 digs and 30 service aces.
Maggie Steffen: The junior was the top hitter for the Roughriders. She had 490 kills, 466 digs, 30 service aces and 24 blocks.
Madi Hart: A senior hitter, Hart gained all-state honors for the third straight season after leading the Cardinals to the Region 4 title and third place at the B state tournament. Hart had team-leading totals of 437 kills and 153 service aces while also getting 426 digs and 28 blocks,
Macey Kvilvang: The 6-foot-5 middle hitter was named Region 4 senior player of the year. She had 423 kills, 170 blocks, 63 service aces and more than 250 digs in gaining all-state honors for the second straight season.
Jana Mehus: The Region 2 senior athlete of the year, Mehus led Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page to a runner-up finish in the region tournament. The setter finished the season with 504 assists, 192 kills, 48 service aces and 25 blocks.
