FARGO – North Dakota State has named Maren Walseth as its next head women’s basketball coach, women's athletic director Lynn Dorn has announced.

Walseth becomes the 10th head coach in program history.

Walseth, 36, has been an assistant coach at Penn State the past seven seasons. She was a standout high school player at Bloomington (Minn.) Jefferson.

"North Dakota State is getting a gem in Maren Walseth," said Penn State head women's basketball coach Coquese Washington. "She is an outstanding coach who will work tirelessly to build NDSU into a Summit League power."

Walseth also played her college basketball at Penn State, helping the Lady Lions to the Women’s Final Four in 2000. She played four year in the WNBA and one year of pro ball in France.

Walseth replaces Carolyn DeHoff, who resigned after six years as Bison head coach.
