CBS Sports to broadcast four UND games, extending TV schedule for 2018-19

UND’s television broadcast schedule will be a bit deeper this season than in the past.

Monday’s announcement that CBS Sports will broadcast four UND hockey games -- two home games, two road games -- brings the total number of broadcasts in the regular season to 28 games.

Six more will be streamed on NCHC.tv, leaving just three games outside of the Midco/CBS/NCHC.tv realm.

That’s a Friday night game at Bemidji State and a two-game series against Canisius in Buffalo, N.Y., in January.

UND’s four nationally televised CBS Sports Network games will be home games against St. Cloud State (Jan. 25) and Minnesota Duluth (Feb. 22) and road games at Western Michigan (Feb. 15) and Colorado College (March 1).

CBS’s top broadcast team of Ben Holden, Dave Starman and Shireen Saski will be back together another season. Starman and Saski have been calling games together since October 2010. Holden joined the following season.

The NCHC started in the fall of 2013 and CBS has had the league-wide contract every season.

Midco Sports Network has expanded its broadcast schedule this season. It will broadcast UND’s game in Las Vegas against Minnesota on Oct. 27, as well as its two-game series at Omaha on Jan. 18-19.

Midco will pick up the My9 Duluth feed for UND’s two-game series in AmsOil Arena against defending national champion Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.

If UND hosts a first-round NCHC playoff series, Midco Sports Network will also broadcast those games. CBS Sports will broadcast the NCHC Frozen Faceoff in Xcel Energy Center.

UND’s season opens with an exhibition against the University of Manitoba on Oct. 6. The regular season begins Oct. 12 at Bemidji State, followed by a home game against the Beavers on Oct. 13.
