Schlossman: A wild weekend in Denver
UND left Denver with a split after two games that contrasted wildly with each other.
One night after rallying for a 5-4 win, UND spent much of Saturday night on the penalty kill and lost 4-1.
It’s probably not good when the opponent has twice as much time on the power play. Or three times. Or four times as much. If my math is correct, Denver had about 25 times the power-play time as UND on Saturday night (13:41 to :33), which was a recipe for disaster.
The Pioneers, who have the top two individual scorers in the nation and the No. 2 overall offense in the country, took advantage.
