Central takes road win: Grand Forks Central evened its record at 1-1 with a 25-13 win at Dickinson on Friday night.

Austin Braun’s 61-yard interception for a touchdown sealed the win for the Knights, who led 14-7 at the half. Braun also scored a touchdown in the first quarter that tied the game at 7-7.

Sylvester Osodo’s 29-yard field goal gave Central a 17-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Braun rushed for 116 yards, while Knights quarterback Jaxton Lorenz was 11-of-20 passing for 105 yards.

Polk County West 39, Blackduck 6: Polk County West opened the season with a home win against Blackduck.

Will White rushed for 152 yards on 15 carries for PCW while John Fontaine added 80 yards on nine attempts.

PCW scored 20 points in the fourth quarter.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Hawks win UND Classic: UND swept Western Carolina (25-19, 25-19, 25-16) and Louisiana Tech (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) Friday to close out its portion of the UND Classic.

The Hawks went 3-0 in the tournament.

"It was great to see our team continue to grow," said UND coach Mark Pryor. "We have so much room for improvement, and it's nice to see us take measurable small steps each time we play."

UND (4-3) clinched the title of the tournament, its sixth championship since 2011.

Since the finale of the 2016 UND Classic, the Fighting Hawks have won 26 of their last 27 matches at The Betty and have only dropped nine sets during that span.

BOYS SOCCER

Riders down Senior High: Ethan Scheffer, Maxx Andrade and Jordan Robles all scored for Grand Forks Red River as the Riders downed East Grand Forks Senior High 3-0 on Friday.

Senior High’s Blake Felch came up with 18 saves in goal.

COLLEGE SOCCER

UND downs Idaho: UND improved to 3-0 on Friday with a 1-0 win over Idaho in Missoula, Mont.

UND’s goal came from Katie Moller in the second half. It was her third of the season.

Olivia Swenson finished with five saves in goal for the Hawks. It was UND’s first ever win over Idaho.

UND will play Montana on Sunday.
