Fall camp for the UND football program hits the halfway mark on Wednesday morning.

Fighting Hawks coach Bubba Schweigert will use the midway point, Practice No. 12, to conduct a 50-play live scrimmage at Memorial Stadium starting at 9 a.m. in order to evaluate his roster in a more game-like setting.

The two main objectives from the scrimmage for Schweigert are to evaluate the youth on the roster and escape the setting with full health.

UND’s fall camp roster has been primarily healthy, especially in comparison to last season.

Schweigert said he sets the length of the scrimmage to what he thinks his thinnest position group can handle.

In this case, the defensive line is the main position of depth concern for the scrimmage. Defensive ends Quintin Seguin and Nick Honerlaw have been sidelined in recent practices.

Before the offense faces the defense, though, the Hawks will roll out first-year specialists at each position -- punter, kicker, snapper and holder. UND graduated the primary players at each of those four positions.

Those special teams, as well as the protections in front of those positions, will be under the microscope of the staff during the scrimmage, Schweigert said.

Schweigert said there won’t be anything to read into the depth chart by which players are playing with which units.
