UND basketball team travels to Hawaii in style

The UND men's basketball team traveled to Hawaii on Tuesday -- in style.

The team sported Hawaiian shirts, shorts, sunglasses, hats and Hawaiian Leis around their necks as they made the trip to the 50th state.

The Fighting Hawks drove to Winnipeg and flew through Calgary and Vancouver en route to Hawaii. They arrived at about 2:40 a.m. Central time.

UND opens the season at 8:30 p.m. Central on Friday against Troy in the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic.

The Fighting Hawks will take on Hawaii at 9 p.m. Sunday and Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Schlossman is in his 13th year covering college hockey for the Herald. In 2016 and 2018, he was named the top beat writer in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He also was the NCHC's inaugural Media Excellence Award winner in 2018. Schlossman has voted in the national college hockey poll since 2007 and has served as a member of the Hobey Baker and Patty Kazmaier Award committees.
