West Fargo blanks Central: Top-ranked West Fargo defeated Grand Forks Central 34-0 on Thursday night, a win that kept the Packers undefeated at 8-0. Central dropped to 2-6.

West Fargo scored 20 points in the first quarter, led by quarterback Andy Gravdahl who rushed for three touchdowns and 101 yards.

Zack Murphy led Central with 55 rushing yards and 57 passing yards.

West Fargo racked up 361 yards of offense to Central's 172.

Girls tennis

Senior High falls in section: Crookston downed East Grand Forks Senior High 5-2 on Thursday in the opening round of the Minnesota Section 8A tournament in Fargo. Katelyn Farder won at No. 3 singles for the Wave while Aleah Hangslaben and Delaney Aaker won at No. 3 doubles.

"While we were the underdog I really felt we had a great shot," said Senior High coach Kyle Hanson. "The girls believed it as well and they played great even if scores don't always show how close it truly was. It's been awhile since we've been able to say that we played well."

Crookston fell to Perham 4-3 in the semifinal round. Roseau and Perham will play for the section title today.

Boys soccer

Senior High falls in section: Fergus Falls Hillcrest ended East Grand Forks Senior High's season Thursday night, beating the Green Wave 9-0 in a Minnesota Section 8A tournament game.

The Green Wave ended the season at 4-11-1.

Girls soccer

EGF advances: East Grand Forks Senior High advanced to the second round of the Minnesota Section 8A tournament Thursday night with a 13-0 win over Crookston at Senior High Field. Breanna Olson scored four goals for the Green Wave, who improved to 16-0. Kenzie Whalen finished with three saves in goal for the Wave while Crookston's Katelyn Wager ended with 24.

"We were really well rounded today," said Senior High coach Jessica Bina. "We scored goals in a variety of ways and had numerous girls contributing. Breanna had a career night with six points. We worked hard on movement and had some really nice runs and combinations."

Senior High will host Fergus Falls on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the next round.
