Grand Forks Herald Jason Stadstad Hockey Classic

The fourth annual Herald Jason Stadstad Hockey Classic is set for Dec. 16-18 in Grand Forks.

The charity boys high school hockey tournament benefits Altru Hospice and local youth hockey.

Teams in this years tournament are 2010 North Dakota State Champion Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River, Grafton-Park River, Fargo Davies, Bismarck Century and Bismarck High. Teams from Minnesota are Apple Valley and Princeton.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students through 12th grade for each game. Tournament passes are $25 for adults and $10 for students.

The game schedule:

Dec. 16: All games at Ralph Engelstad Arena 1 p.m. — Central vs. Bismarck Century, Main arena 3:15 p.m. — Princeton, Minn. vs. Fargo Davies, Main arena 5:30 p.m. — GF Red River vs. Bismarck High, Main arena 7:45 p.m. — Apple Valley, Minn. vs. Grafton-Park River, Main arena

Dec. 17: 1 p.m. — Loser of game #1 vs. Loser of game #2, Main arena 3:15 p.m. — Loser of game #3 vs. Loser of game #4, Main arena 5:30 p.m. — Winner of game #1 vs. Winner of game #2, Main arena 7:45 p.m. — Winner of game #3 vs. Winner of game #4, Main arena

Dec. 18: 10:30 a.m. — 7th place, Olympic arena 12:00 p.m. — 3rd place, Main arena 12:45 p.m. — 5th place, Olympic arena 2:15 p.m. — Championship game, Main arena

Games times are approximate as they will start 30 minutes after the previous game.

After knocking off East Grand Forks Senior High and Grand Forks Central in the previous two days, Apple Valley completed the local trifecta by beating Grand Forks Red River 4-1 in the championship game of the Grand Forks Herald Jason Stadstad Hockey Classic on Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

As it's a rarity in high school hockey, Grand Forks Red River forward Casey Fugleberg was asked if he had ever scored in a shootout before. "Not in a game that meant anything," Fugleberg said. Fugleberg also had the game-tying goal in the third period to lead the Roughriders to a victory over Roseau in the first round of the Grand Forks Herald Jason Stadstad Hockey Classic at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
