Grand Forks Herald Obituary Guidelines

Deaths/Services
We request that notices of death come from an official source, such as a funeral home. If provided by a friend or family member, we do require the name of the funeral home or crematorium handling arrangements. Only one notice will be published at no charge for the deceased living in or formerly from our circulation area. Please be sure to include the name of the deceased, date of birth, age, city of residence, when and where he or she died, and the name and city of the funeral home handling the arrangements.

Paid Obituaries
All obituaries are paid advertisements. The charge for obituaries is $15 per column inch. Only photos of the deceased are allowed in an obituary. A flag graphic is also available. Obituaries must be prepaid or billed to a funeral home. Obituaries can run an additional time at 50 percent off (within a seven-day period). The minimum charge for any obituary is $77. Paid obituaries can also be placed on The Herald’s website www.GrandForksHerald.com for an additional fee of $99. Those choosing to place the obituary online only will be charged $199.
