Jim Fuglie sinking bobber and perch

When it comes to fishing, it’s hard to top the sight of a sinking bobber, and Jim Fuglie of Bismarck shared these photos of a bite — and the 13½-inch perch that resulted — while fishing a small lake in McIntosh County, N.D. The perch was one of about a half dozen that were longer than 13 inches, Fuglie said. “We caught about 75 perch in two days of fishing, mostly in the 11- to 13-inch range, a few smaller,” he said. “Most of those we kept were 12 to 13 inches.” Vehicle access is done for the winter on that particular lake, Fuglie said, but there should be a few more days of walk-on fishing.
