Mollie Ficocello of Grand Forks braved the mud to land this Red River catfish the day after graduating from the UND Law School. She released the catfish after a quick photo but didn't get a length or weight on the fish.

Carter Brown of Walhalla, N.D., wrestled this northern pike to shore April 15 near Cando, N.D., while fishing with his grandfather, Dan Horgan. The pike, which measured 44 inches, weighed 23½ pounds. Zac Bernier of Grand Forks caught this 28-inch walleye on the Rainy River near Baudette, Minn. Bernier released the walleye, which was his biggest to date, after a quick photo.

These four boys had a big weekend tip-up fishing for northern pike with their dads March 18-19 on Devils Lake. Adalyn Linnell, 5, of Warren, Minn., caught this 18-inch walleye -- her first fish through the ice -- on Saturday, Feb. 18 while fishing with her grandpa, Jon Linnell of Warren. "She was a real trooper, getting live bait out of the minnow bucket and all," Linnell writes. "I have had her out soft water fishing, so now she is a veteran at both." Rich Lehn of Grand Forks took advantage of a balmy afternoon Feb. 17 to catch this 38-inch northern pike on a northeast North Dakota pond. The pike hit a smelt fished below a tipup. Lehn released the fish after a couple of quick photos. Click on the image to see the complete photo.

Tony Fladeland of Grand Forks shot this mule deer buck (left) and muzzleloader whitetail after drawing both mule deer rifle and muzzleloader resident tags. According to Fladeland, the mule deer buck scored 177 inches. “Spot and stalk at sunrise with .270 Ruger at 223 yards,” Fladeland writes. The 5x5 whitetail scores 153 inches, and Fladeland rattled it in to 53 yards from his ground blind while hunting with a CVA .50 caliber with open sights near Mountain, N.D.

Dan Tweeton of Detroit Lakes, Minn., released this 28-inch walleye Jan. 29 on Devils Lake. The fish, Tweeton's personal best, was his one and only walleye of the weekend after a couple of days and several hours of fishing, including the Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department ice fishing tournament.
