Cliff Crawford of Grand Forks caught this 14½ -inch crappie Aug. 30 on Third Crow Wing Lake south of Park Rapids, Minn. The crappie weighed 1¾ pounds, Crawford said. Click on the image to see the full photo.

Lucas Keizer, 8, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., caught and released this 21.4-pound catfish Sunday on the Red River near Grand Forks. Lucas is a third-grader at Holy Rosary School in Detroit Lakes. Lucas was still talking about the catch the next morning, his dad, Loren, said. Click on the photo to see the full image.

Bryce DuChamp, 13 (left), of Erskine, Minn., shot this bear Sept. 10 while hunting with his dad, Chris, north of Trail, Minn. The bear weighed 520 pounds field dressed, Chris DuChamp said, adding he'd never seen a bear that big close-up. They're having a European mount made from the skull. Bryce is is an eighth-grader at Win-E-Mac School. Click on the image to see the full photo.

Shadae Quient of Warren, Minn., caught and released this catfish May 21 while fishing the Red River near Oslo, Minn. She didn't weigh or measure the fish, but reliable sources estimate the cat weighed 15 to 18 pounds. Quient said the fish is the largest she's ever caught.

Marlene Sauve of Red Lake Falls, Minn., released this 28-inch walleye while fishing Buffalo Bay on the Manitoba side of Lake of the Woods. It's the second time in recent weeks that Jerry Sauve has photographed a big walleye his wife has caught. Marlene released a 28½-inch walleye in July.
