University of North Dakota Hockey
It's No. 1 vs. No. 5 in the polls.
It's No. 2 vs. No. 4 in the Pairwise.
It's No. 1 vs. No. 2 in the NCHC standings.
Whatever way you slice it, a lot of eyes will be on this weekend's two-game series in the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. It's not a surprise that some are calling this the biggest home series ever for Omaha hockey.
It's also not a surprise that Omaha fans are doing everything t...

Compass Points with Brad Dokken
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced this morning that it will postpone the new aquatic invasive species training and trailer decal program that was due to launch at the end of the month while legislators consider changes to the program, the agency said in a news release.
Under a law passed by the state Legislature in 2012, anyone trailering a boat or water-related equipment...

This recipe is actually not my own and has been passed around many times, but I thought the idea was too fun not to share. Pulse one package of Oreos in a food processor until its nothing but a pile of Oreo dirt, as my son calls it. Next, add one block of cream cheese and pulse everything together until it just starts to come together, forming a dough. If you dont have a food processor, you can...

Tom Miller's UND sports coverage
All in all, it was a great bounce-back weekend for the UND men's and women's basketball teams.
The women continue to climb up the Big Sky standings, behind Montana (who UND beat at the Betty) and Sacramento State (still can't figure the Hornets out).
The men climbed back into the conversation for the Big Sky tournament. The league's on its head right now, with Weber State and Idaho reeling.

Madonna might have sounded like this, if she was starting her career now and if she were starting with as much musical talent as she acquired over the years. It's aggressive, unapologetic pop, and ev...

Ag-at-Large by Mikkel Pates
As the Republican-led North Dakota Legislature grapples with issues big and small, many of its members walk past the statue of John Burke. "Honest John" came to Dakota Territory in 1888 and is said to have doneeverything from pitching bundles to teaching school, reading law -- even publishing a newspaper.I don't know how he had the time as hewas in both the state House, the Senate, the governor...

Around Town: Business analysis from the Grand Forks Herald
North Dakota has the least stressed-out residents in the continental U.S., a new analysis claims.
Chris Kolmar, "chief armchair economist" at the Movoto Real Estate blog, analyzed U.S. Census data like unemployment rates, commute times and population density to come up with his rankings. And despite North Dakota ranking third-highest in hours worked per week, it finished as the least-stressed o...
