Ronald D. Murphy

Ronald D. Murphy, 73, of Grand Forks, ND passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home in Grand Forks.

Ronald Dale Murphy was born May 3, 1944 in Grand Forks, ND the son of William and Agnes (Thompson) Murphy. He attended Fisher Elementary School and graduated from Fisher High School in Fisher, MN in 1963. He entered the United States Army on June 24, 1965 at Fargo, ND and served as Petroleum Storage Specialist. He was honorably discharged from military service on June 5, 1967. He returned to Grand Forks and was employed with Greg Driscoll Farms for 33 years. Later, he was employed in the Security and Maintenance Department at Parkwood Place for 15 years.

Ron was a very giving man to many people. He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars, playing Bingo and going to casinos. He was a member of the American Legion Post 242 in Fisher, MN and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 in East Grand Forks, MN.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Joyce) Murphy, Grand Forks, ND; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Spencer) Hayes, Mesa, AZ; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Billy, Raymond, Jim and Denny; his sisters, Susie Gaines and Peggy Tillman.

Memorial Liturgy: 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Historical Norman Funeral Home Chapel.

Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Friday.

Interment: 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 in the Garden of the Evangelists Columbarium, Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.

Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
