Dennis "Denny" Hoff

Dennis "Denny" Hoff, 74, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Larimore, ND, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home with his wife by his side, after a long battle with kidney cancer.

Dennis Duane Hoff was born December 14, 1942 in Steele, ND the son of Rubin and Phyllis (Kemmer) Hoff. He was raised in Larimore and graduated from Larimore High School. Following graduation, he was employed as a surveyor in Illinois. Denny entered the United States Army on September 9, 1964 at Fargo, ND and served with the 225th Medical Detachment. He was honorably discharged from military service on July 12, 1966 at Fort Hamilton, New York. He returned to Larimore and began his employment with the Burlington Northern Railroad, now the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, until his retirement in 2004. Denny married Tamara "Tami" Bushy on May 25, 1995 in Grand Forks. Following his retirement, Denny was employed as the Supervisor of the Larimore Rest Area. In 2007, this rest area was named Rest Area of the Year by the North Dakota Department of Transportation. He enjoyed manicuring his yard and having a chainsaw in his hands trimming trees. Also, he loved fine, stylish pickup trucks, naming one of them, "The Hoff-Ton". He was known for his practical jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Tami; his children, Anita Hoff, Emerado, ND, Allen Hoff, Fargo, ND; step-children, Katie (Rickey) Ward, Grand Forks, ND, Ali Dorsher and Max Dorsher, both of Grand Forks, ND; his sister, Sharyl (David) Hagen, Jamestown, ND; his brother, Melvin (Cathy) Hoff, Forest River, MN and 4 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Phyllis and Sam Roemmich; his father, Rueben Hoff and his brother, Gary Roemmich.

Memorial Service: 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home-Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.

Family Greeting: 4:00-6:30 p.m. in the funeral home on Friday.

Interment: At a later date.

Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
