Kevin James Rupp, 58 of Grand Forks, was called home on June 14th 2017 at Altru Hospital with his family by his side due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Kevin was born February 1, 1959. He was the son of Shirley (Nelson) Thompson and Donald Rupp. He attended Red River High School. He started working for Greenberg Roofing in 1978. In July of 1984, Kevin had a work-related accident that left him a paraplegic. Throughout his life he never let his disability define who he was. He would continue to accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He was an amazing example of the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Kevin continued to work until 2013.
He enjoyed his summers at the family lake home in Minnesota where he could fish, take a pontoon ride and do the lawn care. He was a fan of Fighting Sioux Hockey and also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings football games. His interests were wide but his heart remained grounded with his family and friends and his faith. He had a loving and generous heart and soul.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by: his mother, Shirley Thompson of Grand Forks, father Donald Rupp of Grand Forks, sister Pam Rupp of Grand Forks, stepsister, Liz (Chuck) Berger of Worthington, MN and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his best friend since childhood, David Noyes.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Duane Thompson, maternal grandparents, Walter and Stella Nelson, paternal grandparents, Henry and Annie Rupp, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
