Basin, WY resident, Jean Gail Weaver Parent, age 78, with her family at her side, passed away peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer's, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, WY. Jean was born April 2, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND to Jon Henry Weaver and Josie (Zahnow) Weaver. She grew up in Grand Forks, ND and graduated from Grand Forks Central High. Jean married Roger R. Parent on September 25, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, MN. In 1960 Jean moved to Seattle with her husband where she raised her family while working in the healthcare field as a CNA. In 1977 she moved with her family back to East Grand Forks to take over the family apartment business. In 1979 Jean, with her husband, owned and operated a laundromat in Grand Forks, ND until she retired in 1995. For 15 years Jean and Roger traveled in their RV visiting almost every state. She especially loved Yellowstone, the mountains, the desert, and camping. Besides traveling, Jean enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Jean is survived by her husband, Roger R. Parent of Greybull, Wyoming; three children: Jeffrey (Lori) Parent of East Grand Forks, MN, Sharlene Maaninga of Dilworth, MN, and Randal (Debbie Bye) of Greybull, WY; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Per Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, please send donations to The Alzheimer's Association. Atwood Family Funeral Directors assisted the family with the arrangements.
