Grand Forks Ren Zone gets 54th application

The city’s downtown-area Renaissance Zone is receiving its 54th application, this time from a homeowner.

Cheryl Halcrow is applying to the program as part of her purchase of a home at 526 S. Fourth St., part of a cluster of new townhomes near the city’s water treatment plant.

If the city approves, she’ll enjoy a five-year income tax exemption and a five-year partial property-tax exemption. The zone’s purpose is to entice more businesses and homeowners to the area.

The City Council’s Finance/Development Committee will look at the application at its meeting at 5:30 tonight at City Hall.
