East Grand Forks mayor out of Bemidji hospital

East Grand Forks Mayor Lynn Stauss

East Grand Forks Mayor Lynn Stauss is no longer at the hospital in Bemidji, officials there said Friday afternoon.

A Sanford Medical Center spokeswoman said the mayor was no longer listed on its active directory, but was not sure whether he had been discharged. A call to Stauss’ home was unanswered and his cell phone voice mailbox was full.

Stauss was in the hospital as of Tuesday afternoon, but was in good condition and told hospital staff he was “doing fine.” His family declined to say what sent him there.

City Council President Craig Buckalew said he didn’t have any information on the mayor’s condition.

Stauss took office in 1996, and is perhaps best known for leading the city through the devastating Red River flood of 1997.
