Public garden project in Kannowski Park gets early OK

Plans for a public garden project in Kannowski Park received approval from the Grand Forks City Council’s Service/Safety meeting Tuesday.

The no-till garden, planned for educational demonstrations on gardening and nutrition, is up for final approval at the next full City Council meeting.

Plans were originally tabled at the committee level to allow more residents to provide feedback.

After all residents within 500 feet of the proposed garden were notified, there were only two complaints about additional traffic in the Kannowski Park area, said Melanie Parvey, Greenway/environmental manager. There was also positive feedback from residents, she said.

Kannowski Park is next to the Point Bridge and the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and South Third Street.
