Grand Forks board approves salary freeze

The Grand Forks School Board voted Monday to freeze Superintendent Larry Nybladh’s salary for one year.

At Nybladh’s request, members of the Superintendent Evaluation Committee last week approved his $217,413 salary and renewed his contract for three years.

Nybladh will actually have a 2 percent decrease to his pay because of increased contributions by employers and employees to the state pension fund.

At the School Board meeting, committee members commended his leadership through what had been a difficult year.

“We very much appreciate that,” said board Vice President Mike St. Onge.
