Grand Forks man accused of selling painkillers to police informant arrested

Ricky Lafountain

A Grand Forks man accused of selling the painkiller Hydrocodone to a police informant a year ago has been arrested, according to Grand Forks County records.

Ricky Lafountain, 47, made an initial appearance in court Wednesday charged with unlawful delivery of Hydrocodone. It’s a felony with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

The alleged drug sale happened on March 11, 2013, at Lafountain’s home at 410 Gertrude Ave., Grand Forks. An informant working for the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force paid him $500 for 50 tablets of the painkiller, according to a court complaint.

The informant was wired and was able to transmit audio to narcotic agents.

But they were unable to arrest Lafountain at the time.

He has a criminal record in North Dakota that includes pleading guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia in 2007 and delivering meth in 1995.
