Job fair starts Tuesday for would-be workers at U.S. Bank Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS -- U.S. Bank Stadium jobs — more than 2,500 in all — will be up for grabs beginning Tuesday.

A hiring fair for the future home of the Vikings will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Minneapolis Convention Center, with part-time jobs available in the areas of guest experience, event security, housekeeping, point-of-sale, retail, catering and food service.

U.S. Bank Stadium partners looking for employees include Aramark, Main Gate Retail, Monterrey Security, the Vikings and SMG, which will manage the $1 billion facility slated to be unveiled in July.

The job fair comes as the company that operates Target Field concessions has been having a hard time finding people to fill food-service and catering jobs at the Minneapolis ballpark this season. In turn, Delaware North Sportsservice has resorted to busing in out-of-state workers for games and holding job fairs.

Michele Kelm-Helgen, chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which will own and operate U.S. Bank Stadium, said Monday she is aware of the staffing challenges at Target Field and that the authority has been working with community groups to “ensure we have the outreach to get people to come and apply for the jobs.”

U.S. Bank differs from Target Field because it will be an enclosed workplace with jobs available year-round, she said.

“I think it helps people to know that there’s potentially year-round work that’s available for them,” she said.

The stadium will host at least 10 Vikings games annually as well as a number of concerts, college and high school sporting events, conventions, trade and consumer shows, corporate meetings and private events. It will host Super Bowl LII in 2018 and the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2019.

The stadium will be unveiled to the public during two open houses July 23-24. The inaugural sporting event will be an Aug. 3 soccer match between Italian power A.C. Milan and defending Premier League champion Chelsea.

Anyone 18 years of age and older is welcome to walk into this week’s hiring fair and apply. For more information, go to or call the jobs hotline, 612-777-8727.
