Devils Lake man sentenced for sexual assault
DEVILS LAKE—A Devils Lake man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and threatening a woman in June was sentenced last week to three years in prison.
Eugene Lohnes, 40, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of sexual assault and assault and a Class C felony terrorizing charge for attacking an ex-girlfriend June 11.
He initially was charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class A felony, but saw his charge reduced when he pleaded guilty.
Lohnes entered the victim's home at about 3:30 a.m., contacted her sexually without consent, beat her and threatened to kill her, according to court documents.
On Nov. 28, Lohnes was sentenced to five years in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, of which he must serve at least three years before being eligible for supervised probation. He was given credit for 170 days spent in jail during his legal process.
He must pay $1,325 in fines and legal fees.
