Man injured in Northwood auger accident identified
NORTHWOOD, N.D.—The Grand Forks Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was severely injured when his glove was caught in a grain auger Tuesday afternoon.
Royce Young, 52, was injured when cleaning out grain bin bottoms in the 400 block of 34th Street Northeast in Northwood Tuesday, according to Lt. B.J. Maxson.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The man was taken by ambulance to Northwood Hospital and was then transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for further treatment and surgery, Maxson said.
Young's condition and the extent of his injuries were unknown to deputies Wednesday morning, but he is believed to still be in the hospital.
The incident marked the first major farming equipment accident of the year in Grand Forks County, Maxson said.
