North Dakota receives $2 million from feds to fight opioid abuse
North Dakota will receive an influx of federal dollars to help fight opioid abuse through prevention, treatment and recovery.
“We must have a comprehensive approach to tackling the opioid crisis that is destroying lives and families all across North Dakota and our nation,” Heitkamp said in a news release.
Heitkamp and Hoeven both voted for the 21st Century Cures Act, which provides the opioid funding for HHS.
“Opioid addiction brings significant pain and challenges for families across our state and nation,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funding is one piece in our broader work to treat and prevent addiction. This includes blocking the sale of dangerous synthetic drugs and supporting state and local efforts to improve access to vital services.”
