FEMA grants extension for Drayton levee

The North Dakota congressional delegation announced Monday the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a monthlong extension for Drayton, N.D., to keep its earthen levee.

The levee sits on land that was acquired through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program after the flood of 1997.

The state Legislature is working to pass legislation to keep the levee as part of permanent flood-control protection.
