YMCA offers 'Art for Vets' classes

A series of art classes for military veterans begins April 4 in the Altru Family YMCA in Grand Forks.

The "Healthy Living through Art for Veterans" series is designed to help participants explore their spiritual, physical and emotional well-being through the use of color, music, texture and creative expression, said Patti McEnroe, healthy living director at the YMCA.

Meditative art, visual design, dream boards, collective team art and 3D collage are among the planned approaches meant to promote healing by creating art.

Classes meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays for 12 weeks. The class and all supplies are free.

Instructors are Kimberly Forness Wilson and Jolene Mikkelson, both award-winning artists.

For more information, call the YMCA at (701) 775-2586. The YMCA is at 215 N. Seventh St.
